We have Entered the Standing Phase!

Just in time for the evening's main event, Matt lowered the crib mattress this morning. Adam has been preoccupied with standing. Words will not convey the extent of his preoccupation. Obsessed is barely a blip on the truth.

Our son reaches and grabs for anything that he might use to pull himself up to standing and once the "fun" begins, there is no rest. Long after his legs begin to wobble he still cries for hands to help him stand. Forget toys, it's a whole new world when he's on his feet.

A few days ago, he started reaching for the railings of his crib. We recorded the first time he's ever pulled himself up in his crib.

  1. Oh my goodness!! Sooooo cute!! I love his little wobbly legs, how adorable. He's so strong and determined, you better watch out, you're going to have your hands full! :) LOVE!

  2. That moment in the video is the first time that my parental pride and desire to encourage/celebrate him was almost completely replaced with sheer terror. lol

The blog does not come close to doing justice for his desire/demand to stand. If we're anywhere near him when it's "play" time then he'll drop whatever he's doing and try to make us hold our hands out so he can pull himself up with them. If you don't do that then he'll simply scoot as close as he can and use any body part he can grab to climb up.

It's almost worse when we actually help him with "standing time". I half-jokingly say that the only way he'll be happy is if you prop him up on his legs until he just passes out from exhaustion - anything else will result in a crying fit.

It's a good exhaustion.. but wow it is wearing us out!
